Having enjoyed the delights of french cuisine at La Bonne Heure on Friday evening, my next stop along Abbeville Road was Sunday brunch at Bistro Union. With a menu focusing on seasonal British food, Bistro Union was created by Adam Byatt and the team behind The Trinity, another Clapham based restaurant. The Bistro has a bright interior, laid back atmosphere and was buzzing with locals.
The brunch menu is small but varied from pancakes to bacon sandwiches. Two of my friends went for the BU Fry Up which consisted of sausage, bacon, tomato, black pudding, mushroom, eggs (however you like them), beans and toast. Served in a mini frying pan it was very picturesque.
I went for the Smashed Avocado, Smoked Salmon and Poached Eggs which was surprisingly filling – there must have been 3 avocados smashed onto that piece-a-sourdough! The salmon was thickly cut and the egg yolks were beautifully orange and runny.
