Ordered online at 6.30pm on a Saturday night. Delivered to my door and devoured by 7.15pm. An unbelievable turn around when you compare the service to Dominos or your local Indian. Before I’d even tasted the food my first impressions of Chosen Bun, London’s first gourmet burger delivery service was spot on.
Handed to me in a white Chosen Bun paper bag, each item in my order had been carefully packaged in its own cardboard box. As a marketer I know the word “innovative” is way over used to describe something clever, new or unique – but on this occasion it is the right word to describe the way Chosen Bun had chosen (ha!) to present their food.
I ordered the Slim-Jim Chicken burger which was made up of a Lime and coriander marinated chicken breast, garlic and avocado mayo, sliced mozzarella and chilli jam. It was delicious – literally one bite and I didn’t want to put it down.
When it came to ordering sides, I decided against the chips merely because I thought they’d fill me up too quickly. But I do need to try the “crunchy skin-on, triple-cooked chips with rosemary salt” because, well, how good to they sound?!! I went for the onion rings and mac and cheese bites. Or in Chosen language, the Onyeung Rings and Mark and Cheese Bites. Both were fried in panko breadcrumbs which made them lovely and cripsy instead of greasy which onion rings in particular are usually like.
To top things off I ended my meal with a Moonshake. A moonshake, I hear you ask? A funky name for a milkshake is the answer. Chosen Bun has three to choose from on the menu, the Oreo (American cookies mashed up), Indy Squash (Banana and Strawberry) or the Vanilla, Caramel and Rum shake. Can you guess which I went for? Vanilla ice cream and caramel with aged, dark Caribbean rum baby! Served in a novelty glass jar with a screw top it’s delivered ice cold with a straw.
Having only been open since 21st July this year, Chosen Bun has introduced the next stage of the London burger revolution. Based in Fulham, Chosen Bun currently delivers to Fulham, half of Kensington and Chelsea, West Kensington, Barons Court, Hammersmith and Earls Court.
