Review: Berners Tavern

And the award for the most beautiful dining room goes to… Berners Tavern 🏆

Review Berners TavernJason Atherton’s upmarket Modern British restaurant in Ian Schrager’s London Edition Hotel is just a few steps away from the hustle and bustle of Oxford Circus in London. I recently went for breakfast and enjoyed the most exquisite Roasted Sweet Potato and Halloumi on toast with a poached egg and pin nut pesto.

But dinner, in the candle lit dining room is a somewhat romantic affair. With top notch silver service and a list of indulgent dishes to choose from, keep reading to find out what I enjoyed the most.

I simply couldn’t fault it, the portion was generous and the meat was juicy and tender. The bacon crisp added the right amount of salt to cut through the sweet puree. Totally delicious.

Roasted quail, Earl Grey and date puree, pickled black radish, crispy bacon, quail vinaigretteThe Prawn cocktail starter was presented in a beautiful flute, piled high with lobster jelly, avocado and crisps shallot. A challenge to eat without making a mess but it was worth it.

Accompanied with macaroni and cheese and braised ox cheek (this is the indulgent part!) it was a seriously spectacular. Although there were only two slices of meat each they were so thick that it was plenty alongside the strong cheesy pasta. A bucket list dish for any London foodie.
