Twenty Thirteen Summer Pt.1

Having moved to London straight after finishing uni in Nottingham, I’ve been busy getting settled into my new job. Because of that I’ve not found the time to share my 2013 summer experiences with you. So, the following couple of posts will act as a summary of all the fun things I’ve found myself doing. Let’s start in London at the beginning of summer.

East London Picnic

One of my dearest friends returned from her 3 months of travels around South America so to celebrate her return we headed to Weaver Fields in Bethnal Green to catch up and enjoy a Pimms fuelled picnic! A fresh baguette, smoked salmon pate, tiger prawns, cherry tomatoes, olives, feta cheese, cocktail sausages, hummus,  parma ham and cheese biscuits. M&S Simply Food and my local Waitrose helped me out with the summer spread.  For dessert we had macaroons and fresh fruit.

Another of my close friends is one of the greatest hostesses I know and when she invited me and two other friends to her family home in Surrey for the weekend I just couldn’t say no! Eating delicious food, exploring the countryside and catch up with friends over (several) glasses of wine are some of my favourite things to do. To start things off, we enjoyed a home-made late lunch on the patio which featured Emily’s special cob loaf, a creamy cheese dip served hot in the loaf, without any waste of bread. Voilà!

The Beach House – Finton-On-Sea

My lovely Grandmother decided to rent an eight bedroom house in Frinton-On-Sea, which is on the East Anglian coast of England, for the weekend. Almost all Tully relations were present in the house for the Saturday & Sunday which is a rarity as there is over 20 of us! The Beach House sleeps 20 and is a delightful holiday house to share with family and friends.

It was my little cousin’s 8th birthday on the Sunday which only called for celebration! Celebration came in the form of a Chocolate Treasure Chest Cake! My auntie came up with the idea and I helped her piece it together using curly whirly’s, gold coins and candy necklaces.
