I think it’s always important to start a new year with a plan. We spend so much time focusing on our daily ‘to-do’ list that sometimes we can forget that we need to get outside and make time for the things we enjoy in life. As you all know, one of my biggest enjoyments is eating out and while I’m living in one of the best cities in the world, I’m going to make the most out of the truly international cuisine London can offer.

London has an inexhaustible range of dining options available to suit every pocket and if it’s cheap, messy, comfort food that you’re after then Dirty Burger might just be the place.
After spending a while moving through various London locations, Dirty Burger eventually settled in a tin-roofed shack round the back of another Soho House operation, Pizza East. Dirty Burger’s second home is similarly rustic under an arch, just outside Vauxhall station.
The menu is pretty basic, offering only cheese or cheese & bacon burgers, fries and onion rings. We ordered one of each, upgrading our burgers to doubles for an extra £2.
Hot from the grill our dirty burgers were exactly that. Juicy, tender and full of flavour – you couldn’t get dirtier.
The sides were just as good. The crinkle cut fries are fluffy and crisp, although they could have done with an extra sprinkle of salt in my opinion. I really enjoyed the onion rings, covered in a thick, crunchy batter the onions were still juicy and full of flavour.
The Dirty Burger shack is a laid-back affair. You order at the counter and tables are on a first-come first-served basis, so the queues can get pretty big, especially towards the end of the week. Glad to have ticked Dirty Burger off my wish list, I’ll definitely be back soon – I reckon it could be the ultimate hangover cure…
